A salary can be an option for some people. For sales people. I recommend you stay away from this option.

You want people to make more sales. The more sales they make, the more you are both able to profit.

Salary plus commission can be a great starting point for businesses. If you want people to follow a certain process and certain times they will be working, you can set up this payment method.

In order to have a sales team, you need to have some kind of high ticket and recurring item. This gives you both enough room to make money.

A high ticket item can be important for a business if you want a sales team based on commission. In general, I recommend at least $1000. Preferable, it would be better to be in the $2000-$10,000 range.

I initially thought anything over $1000 was crazy. Until I paid for a course, training, and mentor-ship for $6,200.

There are different courses, products, and services that people are willing to pay thousands of dollars for. Create something that is highly valuable and you will see your income increase.

Creating a Recurring Item

One of the main things you can do is create a recurring revenue stream for your sales team.

Look at developing a mentor-ship program, service, product, or software that you can charge over and over again.

This means that when your sales team make a sale, they can get recurring funds.

Finding People To Help You Sell

If you have a Facebook group, look at inviting people to your team. These people can be people that bought your course, or they are interested in it.

Reach Out to Your Traffic Source

If you have some kind of traffic source, you can reach out to them. Your traffic source can be in social media, YouTube, blog, email list, and podcast.

I recommend that you do it through your email, so it’s a one time thing and the email goes away.

Tell me about yourself.

Look at getting your potential hire to talk. The more they talk, they more you will get a sense for who they are. Try to see if you are compatible.

Have you had sales experience in the past?

Try to find out if they have had sales experience. A lot of people don’t like to do sales. It can be a lot of work and rejection.

What are your strengths?

Find out a potential employee’s strengths. Try to see if they are suited for sales. They need to be able to listen and make their offer.

What are your weaknesses?

Ask potential employees about their weakness. Some potential employees will not talk about their weaknesses, but try to gauge their response.

Do you have technical skills?

Consider any technical skills you will need for your business. Make sure they are able to use email, social media, CRM, and other technical skills they need for your business.

What are your salary expectations?

Make sure you are upfront about salary and commissions. I recommend you set it your sales teams by doing commissions. By setting up your payment schedule with commissions, you will be able to scale up in your business.

Tracking Time or Performance

Consider if you are going to track their time or performance.

If you are going to pay a salary, you will want to make sure that your sales team is showing up for work.

If your sales team is based on commission, make sure they are getting the support they need.

Communicate with your team on the expectations for your team. You want to have a beneficial relationship with your sales team.

Having the Right Expectations

If you are giving your sales team leads, be clear on how many sales you expect from these leads.

There should be a dialogue on the process. Consider having the sales call recorded in order to listen to the conversations.

You can help your team by going over the calls. Look into answering frequently asked questions and being available to answer questions.

Consider providing leads for your sales people. Most people will need to have a steady source of leads to make it worthwhile.

If they don’t have the leads, they will most likely leave and cause high turn over.

They will need their own traffic source or pay for traffic. You will need to make it worthwhile and with training.

Look at having some kind of sales process. It’s important that you lay out what is important to you and how you want your sales team to interact with people.

Essentially, you guide your traffic to check out a webinar. When they watch your webinar, they will need to put in their email address. It’s a good way to get people’s email address.

You can sell directly on your webinar. Any other people that didn’t sign up on your webinar, can be reached out to on the Facebook Group.

Look into getting this traffic to join your Facebook Group. You can get a sizable group and put content on the group. If you have a sales team, they can put content right on the group.

Your sales team can reach out to the public Facebook Group. Your sales team can set up an appointment and look at selling on the phone.

They can take credit card information right over the phone and recommend different products and services.
